Texada Island's Jazz on the Rocks
Present day ‘Texada Boat Club’ lies beneath the ghostly shadow of the historic Marble Bay Hotel that in the early 1900’s graced the steep rock bluffs as which was known as Texada City, and overlooked Malaspina Strait to the north and the entrance to Sturt Bay.

There was no breakwater, and limited protection from fierce southeast and northerly gales behind low lying Shark Island.  That is, until a group of determined Texada boaters on May 17th,
Sturt (Marble) Bay Boat Harbour
1966, held their first ‘boat club’ meeting in Mary’s Banquet Room, Van Anda.

By early 1967, club activities were in full swing, and the breakwater was finally completed in 1997.  Today, Texada Boat Club lies safe and secure, ringed by steep treed bluffs and a mammoth breakwater of rock.

The dream of a viable community Boat Club started in the 60’s by forward thinking Islanders has become a reality through the dedicated hard work of club members and community support throughout its history.  Volunteer work parties are the backbone of
